Red Tide and the Sailor for the Sea Clean Regatta Program

Red Tide is NOT a season, but it seems that this phenomenon is demanding more than its allotted “15 minutes of fame” on our beaches, in our canals, and along our coastlines. Many of our sailing organizations already follow the Best Practices indicated in Sailors for the Sea’s CLEAN REGATTA Program. This year, perhaps more than ever, we should all revisit their website, examine and review their lists, and begin putting in place additional actions and practices that will increase the “good” GREEN in our sailing centers, yacht clubs, and programs.

This link provides information on running a Clean Regatta from Sailors for the Sea. It offers 25 Best Practice suggestions – some of which many of our organizations already have in place. There is also a Certification Program which might be fun for some to work towards.
